La Millor Mona de Pasqua 2024
On March 12th, the Fòrum Gastronòmic de Girona hosted for the first time the final of the "La Millor Mona de Pasqua" competition, a professional contest that is establishing itself as a benchmark event for chocolate pastry chefs in Catalonia. This edition featured a distinguished jury sponsored by pastry chef Jordi Roca.
In the Best Chocolate Mona category, the jury assessed the originality, technique, presentation, and finishing of the pieces. After intense deliberation and the decisive vote of the "fillols", the first prize was awarded to Jordi Ortiz from L’Obrador Sant Tomàs from Calldetenes and member of the Taula Dolça collective. His creation, made with the chocolate mud technique and inspired by the Marvel Studios universe, stood out. The second and third prizes went to Pastisseria Fusté from Malgrat de Mar and Xocopunt from Molins, respectively.
And it wasn't the only award given out. In the category of Best Traditional Mona, where the visual aspect, dough, both interior and exterior baking of the brioche, aroma, and flavor were evaluated, the first prize went to the entry from Panes Creativos by Daniel Jordà, who had already won third place last year. The podium was completed with l’Obrador de Prades in second place, and Fleca Rovira from Cardedeu in third.
Organized by Sr. and Sra. Cake agency, La Millor Mona de Pasqua once again had Chocovic as a sponsor. After the final, all the presented monas were donated to the Coordinadora d’ONG Solidàries, which brings together entities from Girona.
