Cocoa Horizons 2016/17 Full Year Report: See how the Foundation is part of the Forever Chocolate movement by driving change in the cocoa sector

The Cocoa Horizons Foundation has released its year-end review highlighting the efforts and achievements it has implemented in 2016/17.

Some of the key achievements for 2016/17:

  1. Traceability of Cocoa - 78,546 MT of Horizons cocoa delivered, which is an increase from 42,590 MT in 2015/16 season

  2. Farmer Training - the Cocoa Horizons farmer training curriculum expanded to better achieve productivity impacts, including two new modules on entrepreneurship and adult education.

  3. Women’s Empowerment - 11’534 women are now Cocoa Horizons registered farmers and32 women are in governance positions within Cocoa Horizons Farmer Groups.

The Cocoa Horizons Foundation is an integral part of Barry Callebaut’s strategy to achieve its 2025 Forever Chocolate sustainability commitments.  The Cocoa Horizons Foundation has a mission to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities through the promotion of sustainable, entrepreneurial farming, improved productivity and community development.  The Foundation invests contributions from Barry Callebaut, donors and customers of HORIZONS cocoa and chocolate products into productivity and community activities to scale impact and drive change for a sustainable cocoa and chocolate future.
